Grayscale Investments, de grote Amerikaanse crypto-vermogensbeheerder, heeft in de afgelopen dagen wederom een enorme hoeveelheid bitcoin (BTC) en ethereum (ETH) ingekocht.
Dat blijkt uit twee Form 8-K documenten ingediend bij de Amerikaanse Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), die bedoeld zijn om investeerders en aandeelhouders op de hoogte te stellen van belangrijke gebeurtenissen.
Grayscale kocht 14.591 bitcoin ter waarde van ongeveer $266 miljoen, en 106 ether ter waarde van ongeveer $63 miljoen. Michael Sonnenshein, CEO van Grayscale, meldt dat in de Grayscale Ethereum Trust Fund (ETHE) nu meer dan 1,6 miljard aan ETH zit.

De Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC) bevat inmiddels meer dan $10 miljard aan BTC. Het bedrijf meldt dat het nu meer dan $12,2 miljard assets under management (AUM) heeft, oftewel activa onder beheer. Dat is een kleine afname ten opzichte van vorige week, wat te verklaren is door de dalende koersen van deze week.
In gerelateerd nieuws kondigde onlangs Bitwise Asset Management aan dat het nu de eerste cryptocurrency index fonds in de VS heeft gelanceerd; de Bitwise 10 Crypto Index Fund.

Onlangs rapporteerde onderzoeksbureau CoinShares dat bitcoin fondsen de laatste tijd een toenemende instroom van institutionele investeerders zien. Grayscale meldde kort daarvoor dat ook de vraag naar ether stijgt.
